Throttle position sensor 900 1993

My 1993 940 Turbo (auto box), has decided to have idle issues. I swapped out IAC valve, cleaned throttle body, replaced vac lines...brought it to mechanic at work, he verified all va lines are solid.

I am under the impression now that it is the throttle position sensor. The car sometimes will maintain its idle in drive, other times it goes down to 200 rpm & i need to regulate the idle w/the gas pedal. Also i don't hear a "click" anymore...I read that you are supposed to be able to adjust the throttle manually & hear the click noise. I tried that w/the key in #2 position, but the engine off...didn't hear anything. Also the plug has a bunch of goop in it, could that be causing issues?

Can someone help me to make a diagnosis?
