'93 940 - Brake Light Switch OBD Code & Switch Access 900

Dear Fellow Brickboarders,

Hope you're well. Key symptoms: no rear brake lights (neither those in the light clusters nor that in the rear window). Cruise control does not work.

Red running lights work fine. I've substituted two bulb failure relays, which items I think are in good order. No change in symptoms. I thus suspect the brake light switch has failed.

In the FAQs, under Cruise Control Diagnostics, the following appears: "While the diagnostic light is blinking rapidly press the brake pedal for one second. Code 1-3-2 should be issued. If no code here, check the brake light switch."

I did this test. The OBD light continued to blink rapidly, after I pressed the brake pedal for a second. Does the continued rapid blinking of the OBD light mean that Code 1-3-2 has not been set, i.e., that the brake light switch has failed?

Put another way, do the words "no code here" mean that a failed brake light switch causes the rapidly-blinking OBD light to continue blinking rapidly? And, if the brake light switch is in good order, will the OBD light's rapid blinks be replaced by blinks signifying code 1 - 3 - 2?

If the brake light switch is bad, what's the best way to access it? The brake light switch - mounted on a bracket above the cruise control switch - seems hard to access, even after removing the under-dash bolster and mounting plate. I could use some detailed guidance.
