Keeps whooping up the https://www.brickboard.com/RWD/ on this and other Volvo facespace-yooboobtoob forums. More members and more ad revenue for brickboard.com is one's intent.
Some of the Vovo auto facebook forum users lament the poor or no response when posting questions on the brickboard. I recommend they www.brickboard.com again.
These people on the Volvo 240 fan club ask for advice with issues well treated on the brickboard.com. Yet the response is, well ... so, they should come here to brickboard.com.

As for what remains in 240 reality ...
Not made since 1993. 'Tis a season for everything.
I'll keep mine, for now.
One can say, Darwinian effects as an outcome. The 240, and other RWD and early FWD Volvo autos, would survive better than say some makes and models under any condition and care, or neglect.
Yet you have the degree of the owner operator. So, like Onkel says here, he sees 240s on the road, yet none in the junkyard.
So, surmise evolutionary forces, extemporaneous, for a manufactured thing, and the host of owners as a population set or subset, has winnowed to those that actually mean to give the Volvo 240, and other RWD Volvo autos (and FWD Volvo autos, too, they deserve care, also), with their own tools, willingness to learn, can look past the bloodied knuckles and cut hands, and get rewarded driving the very best manufactured anything, anywhere.
Like the old Pioneer silverface receiver-amps. Or Wagner electric fans from decades ago. Or the Lionel 0 and 027 pre- and post war model railroad hobbies. Some makes of vacuum tube driven transceiver radio sets.
So there you go.
Please check the facebook sites, so aforementioned.
Maybe try to persuade, exhort, and even coerce them schlubs over here on the brickboard.com to get their Volvos all fixed up.
