Strut Inserts or Replace Strut 700 1989

You replace the strut cartridges inside the strut tube.

At nearly 26 years, the front springs can fatigue. You can replace these, also.

https://www.brickboard.com/FAQ/700-900/FrontSuspension.htm

May want to use click the 700 tab above, and enter "strut" or shocks in the search field at the right column pan of your screen.

You use a spring compressor to compress the spring and remove the strut cartridge insert from the strut tube. Have you considered suspension bushings, strut mount (or bearing) condition? How are the front hubs for grease pack and tension.

I've done this work on 700 and 900, yet do not own one, so those that have modern hands and tools on the 700-900-90 series they own and provide you information from direct (recent) experience.

Bilstein (Touring and maybe HD) and Made in Germany Boge are choice.

Hope that helps.

Reads a lot Buttermilk Boy.
