M41 - diagnosing main shaft bearings 140-160

I'm rebuilding an M41 right now, and I'm not sure if I need to replace the main bearings. Neither of them has and lateral or up-down play, but I can hear the balls rolling when I spin them. It's not loud, and they feel smooth, but they aren't silent. Does anyone have a good barometer for what a good bearing does in this case?

I'm replacing all the roller bearings, the lay shaft, and the thrust bushings as a matter of course, since it's already apart, but replacing the main bearings is obviously much more involved.

Any words of advice?

-Tyler
