After you repair the cable - find out how to adjust the clutch - it is NOT adjusted by moving the engagement point - clutches are generally adjusted by measuring free play.

If the free play is correct and you do not like the engagement point, something else is wrong.

If you have no free play, the clutch may be slipping all the time.
