Transmission Upgrade 140-160 1975

I knew that the 164 was available with a standard (particularly in Europe). I think the issue may be a difference in tunnel width which creates the pedal fitment problem - the BW35 being a wider tunnel than cars with standards? I seem to recall that on 140 auto to standard conversions the BW35 tunnel width creates some challenges with pedal fitment. I am getting my info anecdotally so I could be out to lunch.
