142 Front wheel bearings 140-160 1969

I took apart last Fall the front hubs and had all the front steering gear sand blasted and now I recently painted everything. I have purchased new SKF front wheel bearings and installed the new races but I question the rubber seal for the inner bearing at the spindle. Which way does the new rubber seal face ? The old seal was felt.
