Copper spray for head gaskets? 900 1993

i must respectfully disagree. it is true the head warps only under duress from overheating.

nevertheless anything more than .005 gap if you run a machinists edge across the head and the new gasket won't hold well. if it were me i would run a steel edge across and diagonally and use feeler gauges to find out exactly where you are.

the most likely place to find a space will be in the very middle of the head.

cleanliness on head surface cleaning and block surface cleaning is critical for long term success. also make sure you have zero fluid remaining in any of the head bolt holes after removing the bolts.

a good shop vacuum running as you scrape the block surface clean keeps crap from getting into the rings.

do a search on trichard posts as i wrote up a long bullet point.. how to... on this job a while back.
