What's the car's mileage? Oxygen sensor should last between 60k to 80k km between changes unless there's a head gasket issue with coolant leak (no apparent outside leak but coolant level mysteriously went down).
My experience with my NA 900 series O2 sensor is sort of once installed you just forget about it i.e its trouble-free. Anyway I can't comment about turbo cars though.
I've had mysterious coolant leak many many years ago after the engine overheated due to water pump belt slipped off during high speed overtake (about 160kmh) at highway. Weirdly the O2 sensor just kept working. No CEL ever produced. Replaced the head gasket later and all continued well with my old sensor. Checking the OBD gave no codes too. Could be that Volvo's blue-green coolant is of low-silicate variety in that it doesn't harm O2 sensor much or the contamination level was very little.
You could do a bit of preventive maintenance by cleaning the sensor's electrical connector in the engine bay. Spray some carb cleaner on a cotton swab and wipe the connector's electrical pins. Don't use any sandpaper. Sandpaper would score the smooth pin's surfaces. Plus the pins are usually not obviously dirty. Plug back the sensor in/out several times to mate the contacts better and that's it. Don't use any electrical/dielectric grease too.
O2 sensor may slowly fail due to mileage. This time you might see CEL comes on during engine start, only to automatically disappear later. And this happens again and again during next starts. When this happen you might need to replace the sensor.

Amarin.
