Sudden ABS and Battery Lights Come On, Power Brakes and Steering Gone S90-V90

This evening - in the middle of a beer run no less - I suddenly lost the power brakes and steering (an S90 is a heavy car!) and the ABS light and Battery light both came on. The motor is still running fine so I turned around and headed for home. Since more than one thing was effected, I suspect the fault may be a single issue. Does this ring a bell with anyone? The battery may be getting close to its end of life, any theories about this? I appreciate any and all inputs. Thanks, Doug
