Steering Stiffness 900 1992

I saw the thread about steering stiffness (https://www.brickboard.com/AWD/volvo/1629447/S60/power_steering_stiff_s60.html). I will have my shop investigate the U-joint, if that applies to a 1992 940. I cannot remember how the steering felt when new, but it seems now that it is not super easy to steer (I wish it had more "power assist" feel). I have also noticed recently a sensation of unequal turning resistance when turning the steering wheel. I remember having the rack replaced on a 1984 240, but I think the main symptom then was massive fluid leaks at max turn position. Some posts on other sites suggest things like flushing the steering system. How easy should the wheel turn? As easy as something like a modern Honda Civic?
