OBD Code 1-3-2 900

Dear jd620,

Hope you're well. How many miles on the alternator? The factory-original Nippon Denso alternators - used in most 1993 or later 940s sold in North American markets - seem to last for at least 200K miles.

If the alternator is "on the way out", I'd expect the battery to be "weak", the result of not being charged consistently and/or at full-power. When the car is started, does the starter "labor" for several seconds - before the engine "fires-up" - or does the car start as quickly (or slowly) as it has in recent months?

As a precaution, it would be well to inspect and clean battery cable clamps and alternator connections. An aerosol corrosion-remover (e.g., De-Oxit) does this work efficiently.

Hope this helps.

Yours faithfully,

Spook
