Overheating / Cooling 1800 1973

When driving my '73 1800es it runs smack dab in the middle of the temp gauge. However, if I have to sit at long at a signal of if it's just sitting idling in the garage the gauge moves up to the
red line. Start driving and the temp falls back to normal. Radiator or fan clutch? If fan clutch, replace with OEM or go for an electric fan?
