Suspension Advice Needed - 240 Wagon 200

Hi All.
Just picked up a 1990 240 wagon.
I am planning to drive it across Canada (from BC to Ontario) about 3000 miles and back this summer. Have had some necessary work done and a full tune up, but my mechanic tells me that the car still needs:

- trailing arm bushings (rear)
- front and rear shocks

I can feel the crappy suspension when I drive it, but doesnt bother me too much.
I am wondering if these repairs can wait or given the amount I will be driving in the next few months, should I just bite the bullet and get the work done now.

Any advice is appreciated.
