Hose replacement on brittle plastic intake housing 200

I need to replace the crankcase ventilation hose on my '82 Diesel wagon.

Easy job -- I have an OEM replacement part and it is just a hose between a nipple on the valve cover and a nipple on the air intake just upstream of the intake manifold. No flametrap, no check valve, just a hose.

The only thing I'm worried about is that the intake end attaches to a plastic housing, and I'm worried about it being brittle and easily damaged when I try to pull off the stiff and brittle hose.

Other than being as gentle as possible, anybody have any suggestions or techniques to use to minimize damage potential?

Thanks in advance
