bad misses 200 1990

I will bet that my 240 1990 query isn't all that different than previous posters. However the saga continues and is an annoying and ill performing stutter-miss, cough-whatever, worse when ambient temp. is greater, better in winter.
All the ignition/fuel components have a clean bill of health. Except MAS inconclusive diagnostics.
Engine has a bottom end knock, so time's up on the clock.
Thinking of going to Carburetor and 2 choke Weber if possible, manual choke for 'like the ol' days of starting easily the b18's and b 20's. Is this possible, and where to source the parts, such as manifold. IPD drew a blank.
Or should one put in V6 Ford?
Feedback please.
