Placing a 1992 engine into a 1989 240. No start. 200 1989

The 1992 engine came out of an LH 2.4 equipped car; the '89 is an LH 2.2 car if I am not mistaken.

I can't recall when Volvo started using a crank position sensor, but I believe it was in the very early 90s with the introduction of LH 2.4 Someone else can confirm that, but if I am right, then that is likely your issue here. Without an impulse from the crank position sensor, the ECU will not ground the fuel pump relay.

Do you have spark?
