a/c accumulator, lines and evaporator freezing up 200 1992

My 92 240 has a retrofitted R134a system that has run well for 10+years.When it is first turned on the air is plenty cold but after 10 minutes or so, with the fan on low, the accumulator and evaporator freeze up to the point that air stops flowing through the ducts. It appears that the compressor is not cycling on and off: ie it stays on.

I understand that the low pressure switch on the accumulator may be bad. How can I check that? What other problems could cause this? Is there a thermostat switch on the evaporator and if so, how is this checked?

Thank you for any help.
