1984 242 strut bearing issues 200 1984

I had the strut bearing replaced on my 242 with ones from Volvo about 5,000 miles ago. I this time I also had IPD sway bars installed with the sport springs that they also sell. All of the sudden I have noticed that the rubber on the mounts is deteriationg. I does seem like the hardwhere on the mounts differs a little from the originals. I do recall the person that installed the items mentioned that he did not install the plates at the bottom of the strut tube/ above the ball joint mounting braket and I wonder if this has anything to do with it. Thanks for any information.
