Dim dash lights with draw + low rpm 700 1990

Inadvertently shorted the alternator, which was a new Bosch. Dimly glowing dash lights with a draw was the result. OK in daylight.

Replaced the regulator (new).

Still have dim lights on the dash when I place a draw on the system ...but only at idle. When I increase rpms, the dimly glowing dash lights go out.

Where else should I look? I thought about the small black diode/resistor on the back ...just not sure.

Any help appreciated. 90 740 GLE
