1991 wagon dies after about 30 minutes of driving 200 1991

Looking for some help. My 91 wagon is a great car. However when I drive her and the trip is more than 30 or so minutes I get nervous. I have had her loose power when I'm driving and I feel as if she is struggling . Even with the pedal all the way down she just barley makes it. I pull over so I won't be in danger of getting hit or rear ended. Then the dash board lights come on and she dies. If I try to start her up shen will die right away. I have had to call my wife to come pick up up, so as I wait for to to arrive it is about 20 or so minutes. I try again and she starts right up and goes like nothing ever happened. I try to make it home about 30 minutes and about half way home the same issues happens again. I can;t for the life of me think what is causing this. Any ideas folks? I want to have faith in her once again, it takes the joy out of driving her.
