Does a 1974 164E have a start-inhibitor switch? 140-160 1974

Hi,

Recently car doesn't always want to turn the starter unless I move the shift lever through the gears first (automatic). Dash lights all come on with key in first position but then no cranking at all.
Usually has done this after having driven and not every time. Seems to always start fine after sitting long enough to cool down. It is always after I have driven and go to start again after a few minutes. Don't know if that part is related since it has only happened less than a dozen times.
Does a 1974 164E have a start-inhibitor switch?
I think the answer is yes but I don't know where it is since I couldn't see it when I pulled the cover off the shifter. Only had a few minutes to look...

Thanks!
