If by symptoms, you're talking about the lack of OBD response, the button can get crud in it, in addition to the lousy connections on the plug. But cleaning is the cure there.

If you mean the idling problems, well, it fits the 311 scenario fairly well, but without doing the basic tests through OBD, one might just resort to part swapping.
