Nissens Radiator Transmission Cooler Connection 900 1993

I replaced the radiator in my daughters 93 NA 940 a couple months ago with a Nissens Aluminum radiator. Yesterday I did a complete flush and fill of the transmission with Mobil 1 ATF per the FAQS procedure of disconnecting the upper line to the radiator.
When I put a wrench on the upper large brass nut holding the radiator transmission cooler connection (I used a 7/8" wrench for the counter-hold) while removing the compression nut (15mm wrench), I found the large brass nut to be about finger tight or looser? I tightened the large nut a little and finished the flush and fill. I checked the lower cooler line and it was tight (didn't move with a small amount of torque with the 7/8" wrench).
I took the car for a few mile ride and found no leakage where the large nut was tightened a little to the plastic and found no anti-freeze in the transmission fluid.
How is the transmission cooler sealed to the plastic tank, why didn't it seep a little anti-freeze when just finger tight, and how tight should the large nut be? My daughter is taking the car on a 400 mile trip next weekend so I'm a little concerned.
