83 TURBO Electrical gremlin 200 1983

After driving yesterday I turned the key off and removed it. The car continued to run, and showed a dim BATT light. I shut it down by pulling the fuel pump fuse and disconnecting the battery.

I first thought the ignition switch had failed. Today I started the car, then I reached under the dash and disconnected the harness from the back of the switch. It continued to run.

The original engine harness on this car has been replaced, and is in excellent condition. However the the short piece of harness that goes through the firewall was disintegrating. I separated the plug, removed all of the crumbling insulation. I then insulated the bare wire with liquid tape, and put it all back together.

I still have the same issue, I'm open for suggestions.
