The 240 air filter has plenty of area and good flow from the filter casing back (large diameter tube, no real bends). The two improvements that can be made are enlarge the cold air snorkel and block off the warm up thermostat.

I have serious doubts there is anything to gain by strapping a cone filter to the intake tube and sucking warm air. You could always cut a large hole and mount outside the engine bay with a snorkel. Doubt it would add an oomph but it would be unique.
