Oil problem 140-160 1972

Yes, positive. As I said previously, I bought the car with only 58K (not 68K) miles. This leads me to suspect 2 things: 1. that there's sludge in the pan & elsewhere, and 2.that no oil is getting to the filter. Either or both may be causing the high reading. Think the PO, original owner, ran the car very gently & short distances - perfect environment to create sludge. Oil goes directly from the pump to the filter, right? For peace of mind Monday I'm going to drop the pan just to see if sludge could be the problem. Thanks for your comment.
