The reason it doesn't make sense to you is because both 'facts' can't be correct. If her car isn't losing fluid -- then whatever she's spotting on the ground isn't coming from her car. And if the fluid on the ground is coming from her car, then she hasn't identified yet which area of the car's systems it's coming from.

If there are other symptoms (overheating, etc.) --- different approach from my perspective. It's summer in Louisville. It's hot. The safety that comes from your daughter having a reliable car is what's at stake. Have her take the car to a mechanic/professional who can diagnose and repair. If you're not there to assist, you're gonna have to throw some money at it because that's the approach that will keep your daughter the safest.
