B18 head water pipes bang firewall when removing engine 120-130

I want to pull this engine in and out whenever I feel like it, without jockeying the tranny vertical position or banging into the firewall with those oddball heater pipes. Seems like there would be a better solution for this. The formed dent in the firewall indicates Volvo tried to figure it out. Well they didn't.

Make me think... I have steel fenders and nose on my 67, and the hood sticks out about 3/8 inch longer, with all the gaps set as perfect as possile. Maybe they tried making the whole front end longer because of this silly difficulty.
