fuel sender unit 900 1992

Afternoon,
1992 940 GL. I removed the fuel sender unit to replace the fuel pump, only to find the high pressure line with a stuck disconnect, and that connection to sender irreparably destroyed by previous mechanic. I have a spare sender from a Bosch two pump system that seems identical but for the length of the float housing. The Bosch unit ends up a good 2" deeper than my Regina with the smaller gas tank. I am considering "hybridizing" the two to create what I need. Tips tricks?
Yes I have an appropriate sized fuel pump. Looks URO replacements are garbage as usual. Is Tasca still an option or similar?
Pete
