Door trim clip replacement 200

1993 240 wagon. Protective door trim has popped loose due to a couple of broken plastic attachment clips, the black variety that according to the,not particularly helpful, ipd video are supposed to twist into and out of the metal portion of the trim.I popped the trim off. Now it's a matter of removing the remnants of the clips, which have grown hard and brittle with age, without destroying the trim rail before I go hunting for replacements.

This trim popping off is a common problem, so some helpful soul should be able to tell me how she/he has dealt with it.

Thanks,

Bob S.
