A very bad habit many do. Keep the clutch pedal pressed at stop lights and other longer intervals. Doing so cause enhanced wear and failure. So, please don't do that.

Keep your foot off the clutch pedal. Depress only when changing gears and release.

Though probably a little late for the OP.
