240 dl wagon just won't start! 200 1986

In Cally, eh?

You have to leave the preheater hose in for the fascist Cally State visual emission device inspect. Yet block the preheater hose else your AMM may (have already) fried.

Inside the air filter box is a flap valve. Gets stuck to hot air only all the time. Replace the springy thermostat, or, in some way, force that flap valve to remain stuck to cold air only, all the time.

The mid 1980s Volvo 240 are not my forté. Yet you have the Bosch LH-Jetronic 2.2 and very likely the EZK (dunno the number) Bosch ignition, I believe.

Doubtful the white distributor ignition.

Hard to start when cold and hot unless you use starting fluid.

Try the basics. Vacuum leaks, poor electrical connections at wire harness connector and at ground. And then corrosion at the fuse box, both sides.

Mid-1980s Volvo ain't my thing too much.

And you've seen the:
