Volvo 240 still dies while driving 200

Seems to come in spurts. After quite a while of running fine the 240 started dying again while driving both slowly around the neighborhood as well as on the freeway. Checked the Crank sensor and it's only a few years old, all cable looks ok. Checked the distrubtor but see nothing as to wiring or hall sensor that someone mentioned in previous post. It's bare inside. I got codes 123 (fault in signal for coolant temp sensor0and 132 (battery voltage high or low) on pin 2 and 224 (coolant temp sensor is faulty) on pin 6today when I checked. Temp gauge on dash has not worked or come on rarely and sporadically. Codes could have been old. Could faulty temp sensors be causing the engine to just drop? When it dies it will crank but not start. Don't smell any fuel. Got it to start on the side of the freeway finally by pushing accelerator all the way to the floor and then it started raggedly. It died again while driving slowly around the neighborhood. I listened when I turned the key and could hear the fuel pump kick on for 5 seconds or so. It cranked but wouldn't start and then did after a minute. Died today while idling in the driveway. This time I could not hear the fuel pump kick on when I turned on the ignition. After the 3rd on off of the ignition I heard the pump kick on and it did start. I am baffled and sorry to be a bother but again appreciate any other thoughts. thx. Mark
