Okay working on...
1990 740GLE 16V B234F Bosch Injection AW72 Wagon 121K "Lola"
Last week during the first start of each day, I'd pull out of the driveway and hit the gas and it would stumble for a half second and then all would be fine for the rest of the day. A week of that and then it did it again but this time it wouldn't rev more than 1200 RPM without cyclically stumbling or surging. Gas pedal depressed and it would rev from 1200 to 1500 and not go any higher. Stabbing the pedal will cause it to die. Car went around the block at 5MPH and idles okay-ish, not great. Eventually check engine light came on and I got 223 and 121. No signal to or from Idle Air Valve and No signal to or from Air Mass, car runs in limp mode.
Tested terminal 3 on the MAF with engine idling and got 2.2V FAQ says I should get 2.3V. I do have an analog meter so maybe I can't read it to a tenth of accuracy but seems to show MAF working. Swapped the IAC and MAF for known good units from the other 740. No changes. I've had an IAC go out on the other 740 and this current problem is not behaving like that.
Maybe someone can tell me if these problems are symptoms of a different root problem? ECM, Fuel Pressure, etc.
Any tips would be appreciated. I might pull the fuel return line tomorrow and see if there is low or no flow but I haven't done that before and I'm not sure what the correct flow should look like.
Thanks,
John
