M40: 4th Gear Popping Out 444-544

No problems with any other gear and it shifts smoothly between all of them. When the car is going between 80 and 100kph the shifter begins to rise out of position and, or if your foot lifts off the gas the de-acceleration pops the gear.

I've been told one possibility is the bearing in the shifter. Another possibility I've read is the fork between 3rd and 4th gear. It's a used transmission in unknown shape but good seals. It could very well be just a bad transmission that needs rebuilding.

Any other thoughts?
