engine rod thicknesses

Does anyone know anything about the differences in the later model 240 engines?

I'm curious what the biggest differences are between the later model b230 engines. Specifically regarding the overall strength and longevity of the engines. Mainly those in the 90-93 model 240s.

I think I remember hearing that essentially the later the model 240 the thicker and stronger the piston rods got but I can't remember.

I also remember hearing the there was an increase in the number of oil squirters?

I'm thinking about buying a 92, 240 wagon to replace my 240 sedan I recently hit a deer in and would like to know how much stronger the engine is if any.

Thanks,
