Testing relay ground circuits 200 1986

So I went and bought a test lite to be sure of the results, yea right! So reading out of the " Volvo problem saver repair manual 1962-1994 under 1985 and on, LHII F-injection Main/Fuel Pump Relay" And all is good to 3c. For starters, I have my homemade test lite( 12 v bulb 2 wires and probe) which I was using as a ground on term 86-1. And test lite on term 87-1. My home made job would close the relay and not lite up and other test lite on 87-1 would not lite up. So I switched lites, now factory lite which I shall dub "f lite" lites up on 86-1, but don't close the relay. Also 3c says to "activate relay" is this by grounding 86-1 or going to K-2? I stopped here to find out if I have a magical pair of test kites before moving on
