Diagnostic Error Codes 2-3-1 and 1-1-3 700 1989

Thanks kittysgreyvolvo for suggesting that I check the continuity on the TPS. So far the Check Engine indicator has remained off - perhaps, as you suggested, the ECU doesn't always report TPS failures to the OBD. Not sure why the problem went away after the testing I did last week and resetting the closed throttle body baffle with a feeler guage.

The car seems to idle OK now and I'm hoping it will continue to do so. We have a one car garage so the Volvo spends most of its evenings and weekends there.
Perhaps there is dirt in the TPS from being exposed to the weather - lots of dust here this summer especially when I cut the lawn because we haven't had a normal summer rainfall - weather reports claim it is 7 inches below normal.
