940 blower motor slow down when accelerating, really puzzels me 900

My daughter's 1995 940 has this symptom otherwise runs really well. Talked to a few Volvo friends and no one has a clue how those two can be linked together. When she steps on the gas pedal the blower just slows down almost to a halt and resumes again when she lets off the gas. Any suggestions? Thx
