QUESTIONING In-tank PUMP Priming Sound 200 1988

I am just wondering if I am suppose to hear a 1 second priming sound coming from the In-Tank fuel pump in my 88 240. I just spent a complete day getting this 88 240 starting again. I did do the 4 to 6 fuse jump and both pumps do work.

But I DO NOT hear any priming sound when I slowly turn the ignition switch. On former 240's I did hear that priming sound.

Is that feature & sound still part of the ignition process in the 88 240's?

If the priming sound should be heard, is there a solution to get it back into the ignition sequence?

Thanks for any answer, help or solution.
