Girling Disc Pad Anti-rattle Springs 200

OK, I Dutifully searched the archives with no luck - maybe my search terms were too obtuse. So, I gotta ask about something which has bugged me for four decades: should the legs (arms?) of the anti-rattle springs for Girling calipers be installed outboard or inboard?

I have carefully looked at the photos in the Bentley, and before that the Haynes, many times and the springs are shown mounted both ways. If there is no definitive instructions from Volvo for this minutia, are you an innie or an outie?

Rich (near Pittsburgh)
