Have you tried hooking up 1 speaker at a time? I had a speaker that would put my head unit into protect (no sound). The wiring all checked fine and it worked as long as it was not screwed on to the door. I am guessing it was a grounding the speaker to the chassis ground which amps don't like. Put in a different speaker and the problem went away.
