the old electronic speedometer trick a massive pia

hi sages- my apologies in advance for boring the hell out of you again. the usual suspect is my 92 245. back in 11 following advice here i bought 2 odometer gears and installed them in the cluster under the magnet motor. the odometer worked until lately when the odometer stalls requiring a small punch to get it going again. stalls have become longer. probably as you suggest it is cracked solder points on the cluster. always looking for effective shortcuts. just heard of an electronic sensor you put on the trans to send the message. sounds like hokus pokus to me. sure wish there was a way to retrofit a cable to a mechanical speedometer. easily replaced them a few times during the war. anybody here hear of this or did it? thanks tons oldduke
