Challenging Ignition Problem: 1987 Volvo 200 1987

I see something you failed to mention or check into.
Is the timing belt turning the overhead cam?

Look into the oil filler cap while the engine is being cranked over. You can use the red harness wire near the back of the engine and firewall. It's used to spin the starter with a wire from the positive battery post.

Check to see it the rotor points to number one wire and TDC "0" degrees after rolling the engine by hand. The first two cam lobes are to be pointing upwards opposite each other and not depressing the valves downward.
