Brake booster help needed!! Please! 900 1993

Well I need some help with a measurement of the pushrod on the brake booster. My booster went on my 1993 940 with ABS. So I ordered a Cardone rebuilt one through rockauto..
Well when I took the old one off, I noticed the pushrod on the old one was about flush with the booster. But the new one pushrod was out quite a bit more. Well you guessed it I tried adjusting it and that did not work.
Then the old Mastercilinder would not fit on the new booster. So I got a matching Masterclinder for the booster. So I bench bleed that put it on and flushed the whole brake system with new brake fluid. Well I guess my adjustment of the pushrod was way off. I have NO brakes.
So should I adjust the pushrod until my brakes are on without touching the brake pedal. Then slowly back it off until the brakes come off. Or does someone have a booster around that they can measure how far the pushrod comes out. Put a straight edge across the end of the booster mounting studs (Masterclinder) and tell me the distance between the straight edge and the pushrod.
1991-2-3 940 are the same and 1989 - 93 740 will do as well, all with ABS. I emailed and phoned tech at Cardone and they said they do not have the spec for the pushrod.
This is a time in life that I really need a Brake!!
