strong running 245 lost power and died. Have some clues, need help. 200 1989

Sounds like the brushes are just about gone. Running slower and slower could be the fuel pumps no longer getting 12V and pumping slow??

Since the engine is not running, you can not check the voltage supply from the alternator which should be over 14V. If you swap batteries, that may let you run the engine for 10-15 minutes at idle, with the lights off.
