rear main seal 120-130 1967

One of my winter projects is to replace the rear main seal on the engine. The transmission removal procedure in the Volvo shop manual is a lot different than the Haynes manual.

Questions:
Is it necessary to drain the coolant and remove the radiator hoses ?
Can the overdrive and the transmission come out in one piece ?
What else do I need to know ?

Thanks

Greg
