1963 p1800 hood latch handle 1800 1963

Hello, would anyone know if the hood bonnet interior latch handle in 1963 was painted in body color over a chrome plated handle. Or better yet would you know if a 1962 jenson series latch handle was painted body color or chrome plated? Mine looks to be just painted body color, I have a 1964 here that looks to be painted body color red but is wearing down a bit and looks like there is chrome plating underneath. Just trying to restore mine correctly and could go with chrome plating or body color pearl white.
